The opening ceremony of the Certificate in Football Management (CFM) educational course took place at the Fabrika venue. The ceremony was attended by the Georgian Minister of Culture and Sport, Mikheil Giorgadze, the Georgian Football Federation president, Levan Kobiashvili, as well as the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) rector Maka Ioseliani, who congratulated the participants on the start of the course and wished them good luck.

Levan Kobiashvili spoke about the importance of the programme and the cooperation with GIPA. He also thanked the Ministry of Culture and Sport and the Georgian Football Development Fund for their engagement and support. “Education is one of the top priorities for GFF. We are delighted to have a highly qualified partner in the form of GIPA, who will ensure that the programme will be conducted to the highest standards. I am proud to congratulate you on the start of the course, as you have all been selected out of a large and competitive pool of applicants,” Mr. Kobiashvili told the participants.

“We all know that our country has declared education as an absolute priority. Naturally, sports education forms an important part of this process. I would like to express my full support for this project, which will form part of a three-year cooperation agreement signed by GFF and GIPA. I am sure that they will offer numerous engaging projects. Success in sports, or indeed in any other field, is impossible to imagine without the relevant improvement in education and qualifications,” added Mr. Giorgadze.

“In today’s reality, it is rare to see an institution demonstrate such a progressive and timely approach to the issue of education, as Mr. Kobiashvili and the Georgian Football Federation have done. They have recognised the need for cooperation with professional learning institutions in the process of implementing courses such as this one. We all agree that football is both emotionally and rationally very important for our country’s development. Demand for this course has been overwhelming, and I hope that in future, people from other fields will also have the opportunity to participate in this programme,” stated Ms Ioseliani.

The CFM constitutes the first joint GFF-GIPA project. It is the programme’s second edition to take place in Georgia, and participation is free of charge. The programme is fully financed by the Georgian Football Federation and the Georgian Football Development Fund.

The programme aims to train representatives from the football sector in management skills, thereby supporting the development of domestic football. The programme is due to run for 5 months, and is designed for representatives of football clubs, other entities under GFF’s jurisdiction, as well as individuals responsible for the development of sport in the country.
