After the completion of the 2026 national licensing process, Georgian clubs are beginning preparations for UEFA licensing for the 2026/2027 season.
On 24 December, at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium, the Club Licensing and Monitoring Administration of the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) met with clubs considered to be applicants for a UEFA license. The meeting was attended by the ten clubs of the 2025 Erovnuli Liga season and the top four teams of Women’s League 1.
Participants reviewed the completed licensing cycle and the challenges that the clubs faced during the licensing process. They were also introduced to the updates being implemented in the current licensing cycle. The clubs were given the relevant recommendations to meet the mandatory requirements for obtaining a UEFA license. In addition, problematic issues in the licensing process and future development prospects were discussed.
Starting in January, the clubs will begin submitting licensing documentation, which will be assessed by licensing experts who will provide consultations and appropriate guidance to address any deficiencies. The licensing process will conclude in late spring, when the relevant competent bodies will make decisions on granting UEFA licenses to clubs.
UEFA club licenses for men’s and women’s teams, issued by the GFF in accordance with international standards, grant the eligible clubs the right to participate in UEFA club competitions for the 2026/2027 seasons, based on sporting results.
