Georgian club sides Dila Gori, Chikhura Sachkhere and Samtredia played the first leg of the Europa League first qualifying round on 30 June.
Dila hosted the Armenian side Shirak Gyumri, and narrowly won 1:0. Irakli Modebadze scored the winning goal on 36 minutes. The game was attended by GFF president Levan Kobiashvili, vice president Aleksandre Iashvili and general secretary David Mujiri. The return leg will be played on 7 July in Gyumri.
Chikhura travelled to Moldova to face Zimbru Chisinau, and also managed to secure a 1:0 victory. The game’s only goal was scored by Dimitri Tatanashvili on 40 minutes. The return leg will take place on 5 July at the Davit Abashidze Stadium in Zestaponi.
Georgian vice champions Samtredia were less successful. They faced FK Qabala at the Bakcell Arena in Baku, and were heavily beaten with the score of 5:1. The Imeretians’ only goal was scored by Lasha Shergelashvili in the second half. The return leg will be played in Zestaponi on 7 July.
